On July 13 the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg accommodated five modern cruise ships of the world cruise leaders: «Jewel of the Seas» and «Vision of the Seas» (with 2600 and 2400 tourists onboard) of «Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises», «Disney Magic» (with 2800 pax onboard) of «Disney Cruise Lines», «Eurodam» (with 2000 pax onboard) of «Carnival Corporation», as well as «SC Atlantic» of «S-Continental», which had presented its regular cruise on July, 08. In total over 10 thousand tourists arrived at the Port on the Vasilyevskiy Island. It became a record number for St. Petersburg.
St. Petersburg has always been of a prime interest. For a long time St. Petersburg has lacked good passenger port facilities and the increase in number of passengers could be in the first place based on the improvement of the technical facilities. There are two terminals and five berths in operation at the new specialized Passenger Port of St. Petersburg now. A ferry terminal has been completed and commissioned too. In 2011 when the third and the last construction phase of the Port is completed the Northern Capital will be able to welcome even more passengers.
